NOTICE

The Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village (CTMHV) created, produced and managed the Southern Ontario Military Muster (SOMM) in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Please be advised however, that CTMHV will discontinue this event effective in 2013 and we thank the many re-enactors, the Department of Veterans Affairs in Ottawa, the period vehicle owners, speakers, helicopter crews, veterans, the public, vendors, our Web Master, and the museum staff and museum volunteers who made this show possible.

2013 Military Muster Cancelled at Museum

The museum’s board has decided to no longer sponsor the annual military muster event. The reasons are based on the financial risks involved. Unlike our other shows this one requires a considerable up front investment so a rainout would not only generate lost income it would cause an actual big out-of-pocket loss of the sunk money invested. The board wanted to preserve the show here at the museum but the revamped Military Muster committee was unable to present an alternate business plan to the board for keeping the show at the museum.
